NBL With ThinkSmart For 2011/2012 Season

The National Basketball League has signed leading international financial services company ThinkSmart Limited (ASX:TSM) as a Major Partner of the iiNet NBL Championship for the 2011/12 season.

The addition of ThinkSmart further strengthens the league’s growing financial base and Basketball Australia Chief Executive Officer Larry Sengstock said the NBL and ThinkSmart were a natural fit that would complement each other.

“ThinkSmart are renowned as an innovative international brand with proud Australian roots, which is a great match with us as an Australian-based challenger brand,” said Sengstock.  “This is the first time we have had a league partnership in the financial services sector which is exciting.”

“ThinkSmart’s support of the NBL via its market leading RentSmart product is a terrific vote of confidence in the NBL’s strategic direction,” Sengstock added.  “It shows that the growth we have exhibited over the past few years is being recognised in the corporate world.”

ThinkSmart Executive Chairman and CEO Ned Montarello said this as an important step in expanding the awareness of RentSmart in Australia and as a platform for its product and category diversification.

“The NBL is bringing excitement, innovation and entertainment to basketball in Australia and this aligns with our intent to expand the market place and change the way consumers and small businesses access product,” Montarello said.

ThinkSmart is a leading international financial services company in the delivery of point of sale finance products through the retail in store and online environment. The business has built a reputation for processing high volumes of low value consumer and small business finance transactions both quickly and efficiently.

ThinkSmart’s products fill the gap for small business and consumer customers between a credit card and bank loan, enabling them to get on-the-spot approval for technology.

As per standard Basketball Australia practice, the financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
